The Labor and Liberal parties have blocked attempts to declare a climate emergency in Tasmania. Scientists tell us we must take urgent action to address the crisis we’re already experiencing. The community overwhelmingly supports climate action. The only thing holding us back is the political game playing of the Liberal and Labor parties
Tasmania may be a small place, but we have an important role to play in helping the planet avert the worst impacts of the climate crisis. Whether it’s declaring a climate emergency, permanently protecting our carbon-rich native forests, banning thermal coal mines, or implementing adaptation plans, the policies we put in place here have the potential to lead the nation towards a safer, smarter and sustainable future.
We need to declare a climate emergency, protect our native forests and take significant steps to reduce emissions and adapt to a changing climate.
