Strong Greens Franklin Ticket for State Election

11 Aug 2017

Cassy O’Connor MP | Greens' Leader

The Tasmanian Greens will run a strong field of talented and committed candidates in Franklin in the upcoming State Election.

I'm delighted to announce our Franklin MP, Dr Rosalie Woodruff, will lead the Green ticket with Kingborough Councillor, Richard Atkinson, and small business owner, Holly Ewin, in the number two and three spots.

In the two years Rosalie has been in State Parliament, she has been an outstandingly effective Franklin representative and a strong, clear voice defending the marine environment.

With a doctorate in epidemiology and global expertise in the health impacts of climate change, Rosalie has also been an informed, clear voice in Parliament on the state of health in Tasmania.

Councillor Richard Atkinson grew up in Burnie and Hobart.  He is a trained engineer with professional expertise in IT and telecommunications.

Richard talks a lot of sense on the big policy issues such as climate change response, environmental protection, integrated transport, social inclusion and community development.  On Kingborough Council, he is a voice of reason who works collaboratively to deliver outcomes for the Kingborough municipality.

Holly Ewin is just twenty five years old, yet she has run a successful small business for the past five years while studying social science, political science and philosophy at UTAS.  A former early childhood and disability support worker, Holly is also a committed member of the Young Greens.

Holly is standing for the Greens because she is passionate about equitable, well-resourced public health and education and about defending Tasmania's wild places.

Rosalie, Richard and Holly are very much looking forward to the campaign ahead.
