The Tasmanian Greens today ridiculed the Liberals’ proposal to open up National Parks and World Heritage Areas to unrestrained development.

The Tasmanian Greens today called on Minister O’Byrne to ensure that no tender is awarded for the construction of the Regent square Hub until such time as the section 64 application, currently before the RMPAT tribunal is dealt with.Greens Member for Bass Kim Booth MP said that section 64 application has highlighted the fact that the controversial and unpopular proposed Hub on Regent Square is actually sited on the car park which was required as part of the approval of the extensions to the Memorial Hall six years ago, and which the Council has spent a fortune on.
