Today Tasmania’s Covid case count is over 100,000. In real terms, that means about 1 in 5 Tasmanians has been infected.

Our small state is recording thousands of cases every day, and there’s no sign of that slowing. While cases climb, the Liberal Government has refused reinstate mask wearing protections.

100,000 cases is too many, especially when we don’t know what the impacts of long Covid and ongoing health issues may be. It’s time to get serious about protecting Tasmanians.

Tasmania’s schools are being hit and hit again by waves of Covid outbreaks. Teachers and educators are demanding a circuit breaker, but the Liberals are sitting by doing nothing to help.

The government’s plan for Term 2 is more of the same, but with heaters. Where is the investment in ventilation? Where are the masks?

Victoria has announced a major grants program for ventilation upgrades. This should be a priority in Tasmania for the new Premier.

Whoever the new Premier is, they can’t sit passively by and let Covid rip through our community. Tasmania deserves a Premier who will put the health and safety of Tasmanians first.
