Minister for Education Jeremy Rockliff must stand up and show leadership to save the Jordan River School Farm after Brighton Council ordered its farm animals to be moved.

“This issue has now got to the stage that Minister Rockliff must sit down with Brighton Council and negotiate an outcome that allows the school to continue its outstanding tradition of offering alternative career pathways and learning opportunities in the agricultural sector,” Greens Education spokesperson Nick McKim MP said.

“A school farm without animals is like a dam with no water. It’s entire reason for existence will have been removed.”

“Brighton Council have long wanted the school farm moved from its current location, and it’s hard not to see this order as part of Council’s long term strategy to develop the land currently occupied by the farm,” Mr McKim said.
