Cassy O'Connor MP | Greens Leader
In accepting and announcing the resignation of Adam Brooks from Cabinet, the Premier continues to ignore the fact that one of his Ministers lied repeatedly to Parliament.
Four days after Mr Brooks deliberately sought to mislead the Estimates Committee, the Premier has yet to acknowledge the facts, instead deflecting to an audit of Mr Brooks' company email address.
While it is important to establish the nature of Mr Brooks' private business dealings in his time as Minister, the fact is that he lied to Parliament and therefore to Tasmanians.
There is growing evidence of a culture of secrecy and dishonesty within the Hodgman Cabinet.
Last year the Minister for State Growth was caught fibbing to Parliament, last week it was the Mining Minister.
Both times the Premier has let the dishonesty pass without comment or condemnation.
Every question time and in too many Budget Estimates hearings, we are subjected to Ministers being evasive and abusive rather than providing truthful answers.
It's an indictment on the standards Premier Hodgman expects of his Ministers.
