On behalf of the Greens, I offer our heartfelt sympathies to the loved ones of the two Tasmanians who have lost their lives to the coronavirus.

Across the island, people are grieving this loss.

We also acknowledge the anxiety being felt by the family and friends of those other Tasmanians who are battling COVID-19.

These tragedies are a tragic reminder of the deadly seriousness of the coronavirus pandemic.

If they can, everyone must stay home to save lives. The situation we find ourselves in as a community is not one anyone wants to be in, but it’s necessary to give this island and its vulnerable people a real shot at escaping the virus.

Tasmania, and Tasmanians, are not immune from this deadly virus. Be sensible and safe – stay at home if you can, and look out for the vulnerable people in your lives in any way you can.
