We’re five days in to an election, called one year early and Tasmanian voters are none the wiser about how much they’ll pay to subsidise the casino pokies tax deal until 2043.

In calling an early election, Peter Gutwein has dodged community judgment on the 2018 election quid pro quo legislation that was to be tabled and debated in this term of Parliament, that ended last Friday.

What casino pokies tax rate will Federal Group pay?

This is a critical question. The deal the Farrell family wants would cost the Tasmanian budget hundreds of millions of dollars over the life of the deal.

That’s hundreds of millions of dollars not going in to housing, schools and building new homes for Tasmanians.

Voters have a right to know what tax rate the Premier has negotiated with the Farrell family, before Election Day.

They also have a right to know where Labor stands on the casino tax rate, and the legislation which will undoubtedly be one of Parliament’s first orders of business when it returns after the election.
