The Wilderness Society's (TWS) analysis of the Draft rainforest logging plan reaffirms the rampant anti-environmentalism of the Hodgman Liberals.
Given the history of enormous waste of sawlog quality and rainforest timber in the industrial wood chipping era, the TWS finding - that 6 out of 10 rainforest trees would be wasted under the Liberal plan - rings true.
Minister Barnett has failed to provide any evidence to refute the TWS analysis, which is based on the numbers and projections in his own draft special species logging plan.
Mr Barnett is cheerleading on the depletion and waste of already over-harvested rainforest species inside the 356 000 hectares set aside under the Tasmanian Forest Agreement, conservation areas and recreational reserves.
Areas set aside for protection would be logged under the Liberals.
Tasmanians who value this island's globally significant high conservation value forests will not accept this wholly political destruction and waste of a public resource.
