The Liberals' Draft World Heritage Area management plan is a disaster for Tasmania's World Heritage Area, and for the protection and enhancement of wilderness values in Tasmania.

"This draft confirms that the Liberals want to open up our World Heritage Area to logging, 4WDs, helicopters, and other commercial activities, all at the expense of protecting and enhancing natural values," said Greens Parks spokesperson Nick McKim MP.

"It constitutes the biggest threat to wilderness values in Tasmania for a generation."

"Tragically, the Liberals see our world class wilderness as something to be profited from, rather than protected for all of humanity."

"They want to sell off Tasmania's great natural treasure for nothing more than trinkets."

"The draft should have been focussed on respecting one of the world's great natural treasures, but in fact it is all about exploitation and profit for greedy developers."

"The Greens have no confidence whatsoever in the Liberals' stewardship of our globally significant wilderness, and we will ensure that the World Heritage Committee is made aware of the threat to World Heritage values contained should the draft plan be enacted."
