In a long-winded Ministerial Statement made to Parliament today, the Health Minister admitted the Royal Hobart Hospital redevelopment will be delayed until mid-2019.

The Liberals wasted the Parliament's time yet again today, reciting another Ministerial Statement. Minister Ferguson's statement was almost entirely self-congratulatory puff, hiding the RHH redevelopment delay in the very last page.

Michael Ferguson has promised Tasmanians he would 'rescue the Royal', and bring the redevelopment in on time and under budget.

The RHH redevelopment has been beset by almost entirely predictable problems, which have compromised patient and staff safety, and led to significant delays.

The Hodgman Government and Minister Ferguson have over-promised and under-delivered in health.

Minister Ferguson also told Tasmanians he would 'fix the health mess', but his government has cut $110 million out of the health budget since they were elected. It's no surprise the system is an underfunded mess under his watch.

Unless the Liberals reverse their savage cuts to health, we will still be on the bottom of the pile. We'll be nowhere near their 'target' for Tasmanians to have the best health in Australia by 2025, in only nine years time.
