If senior Liberal Minister, Michael Ferguson is claiming prison overtime costs rose under the Labor Green Government, he is being dishonest and contradicting Corrections' Minister, Vanessa Goodwin.

If this is what Mr Ferguson said, he is completely wrong and should correct the record.

In a media release dated 9 June 2015, Dr Goodwin confirms prison overtime expenditure in 2010-11 was $5.1 million, and that it had decreased to $3.5 million by 2013-14.*

This was under Greens' Corrections Minister, Nick McKim, and shows that the portfolio was handed to the Liberals with overtime costs trending strongly down at Risdon Prison.

The recent blowout in overtime costs has happened on the Liberals' watch.  Their continual attempts to dodge responsibility for problems of their own making are getting tedious.
