For the first time in Tasmania's history a State Government is privatising Housing Tasmania homes through the transfer of Title.

Human Services Minister, Jacquie Petrusma, confirmed in Parliament today that up to 500 Housing Tasmania properties will be handed over to community housing providers.

At a reasonable estimate, the Hodgman Government is giving away $125 million worth of public housing assets.

The previous Labor Green Government transferred management of Housing Tasmania properties but ruled out the transfer of Title.

In April last year, the Premier told Tasmanians, "Let me be clear: we will not be selling any government or public owned assets."

This is a lie. The transfer of public ownership of Housing Tasmania properties is the privatisation of a public asset.

Minister Petrusma has been evasive on the issue of title transfer since she took on the Housing portfolio, and now it is clear why.
