The decision to move fireworks outside a two kilometre radius from Bonorong tomorrow evening is a victory for common sense, but points to a need to review the Explosives Regulations 2012 to improve the system for granting fireworks permits.
The system of granting permits needs to be reviewed to ensure that pet owners, farmers, studs, wildlife parks and other animal sanctuaries who may be impacted are notified when applications are made, and given a chance to make representations before permits are issued.
