The Greens steadfastly support Blue Derby Wild’s court injunction to stop illegal logging in the beautiful NE forests.

The community group, however, should never have been put in the position of asking the Supreme Court to intervene to prevent senseless logging around the township of Derby.

Minister Guy Barnett admitted his government broke the law by logging forests in breach of the Forest Practices Act 1985. Continued unlawful, climate and Brand damaging logging of the magnificent North East forests is untenable.

Mr Barnett’s illegal logging cannot be allowed to continue while we wait for Parliament to return.

Tasmanians knew native forest logging was a crime against the climate and Nature. Now we know it’s a crime against Tasmanian law.

It’s unreasonable and unjust that a small community group have had to take out a court injunction to stop the government illegally logging Krushka’s forests. All illegal logging must stop immediately.
