Happy World Environment Day!

It’s never been more clear. We have one world, one global environment – and as human beings we must work together to heal the damage we have done and prevent further damage.

As Carl Sagan so eloquently put it – “No other planet in the solar system is a suitable home for human beings; it's this world or nothing.”

The Tasmanian Greens understand what this means, we understand that the climate and biodiversity crisis we are in requires urgent attention.

It is why we fight for our forests – the great carbon store that will prevent global heating.

It’s why we fight for the health of our life giving rivers and oceans – that nourish our bodies.

It’s why we speak truth to the power of giant industries that pollute and plunder the natural world for power and profit.

Today we salute the microbes and the mammals, the bacteria and the birds – all of the lifeforms that have created our liveable Earth.

And we redouble our pledge to be the voice for the environment here in lutruwita/Tasmania and beyond.
