Cassy O'Connor MP | Greens Leader

In response to today's deadline for advising Parliament on the excessive 10.5% pay rise, we have written to the Clerk of the House advising that monies above a 2% pay rise will go to six non-government organisations.*

We sought advice from a registered financial adviser to ensure Greens' MPs would receive no tax or superannuation benefit as a result of the excessive salary increase.

The Greens understand that politicians are public servants and don't believe we should receive a wage increase above the 2% public servants receive.

While Liberal and Labor members might be happy to hand the cash back to Treasurer Gutwein, the Greens have seen his handiwork and we're not that impressed with his priorities.

We will be donating the remaining 8.5%, and the benefits that go with it, to community, environmental and animal welfare organisations who are feeling the pressure of the Hodgman Liberal Government.

The donation details are as follows:

Cassy O’Connor MP

Refugee Legal Service Tasmania

Produce to the People Tasmania

Andrea Dawkins MP

Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary

Brightside Farm Sanctuary

Rosalie Woodruff MP

Environmental Defenders Office

Tasmanian Conservation Trust
