After the first full week of Parliament for 2020, the Greens call on the Gutwein Government to explain why it has again failed to prepare a legislative agenda.

The Government has had all summer to prepare legislation, but they've showed up empty handed to Parliament.

Of course the amendments to enable victims of sexual assault to speak out are incredibly important and have the Greens' full support, but that should be just the tip of the legislative iceberg for the new Premier.

Where is the legislation to lock in a meaningful carbon-emissions reduction target, or to reform political donations, or to increase Government transparency?

The Liberals have promised action on all of these areas, but as usual they are simply minding the shop rather than delivering the reforms Tasmanians want and need.

Once again, it seems it will be up to the Greens to do the heavy lifting with our legislative agenda that includes enacting our Safe Climate Bill 2020, repealing the State’s draconian anti-protest laws and strengthening the Animal Welfare Act.

Clearly the Government has spent so much time focused on its own internal divisions and shaky leadership that they have forgotten about the people they were elected to represent.
