The Greens support strong gun laws in Tasmania. We were proud to release our policy in the early stages of the campaign to protect, and strengthen, our state's firearms laws.

Tasmanians, more than any other state, understand the importance of not weakening the National Firearms Agreement.

Voters must know where each party stands on our state's gun laws. Tasmanians were shocked when the Liberals' secret deal with the firearms lobby was exposed just days before the last state election.

They were later shocked to understand the Labor Party had also made commitments to weaken Tasmania’s firearm laws.

The Parliamentary Firearms Inquiry, formed in response to community outrage at the secret commitments last election, made the views of Tasmanians abundantly clear. The overwhelming majority of Tasmanians want to uphold the National Firearms Agreement.

We welcome Labor's response at this election to Gun Control Australia's survey. It's pleasing they have now heard and listened to the will of the people.

Do the Liberals support maintaining strong gun laws? Or have they, again, done a secret deal with shooters?

The Liberals must come clean with Tasmanians. There cannot be a repeat of last election.
