Minister Groom is the latest offender in the Liberal's contempt for transparent governance and ministerial accountability.

The Minister admitted that he had the MOU between UTAS, TasTAFE and the Government in his mind when he answered the question yesterday. He stood in the Parliament knowing that he had signed an MOU and denied there was a specific proposal on the table.

There clearly was a very specific proposal on Mr Groom's ministerial table.

The Liberals continue to demonstrate contempt for democratic process and for the people of Tasmania.

We see a third of question time dedicated to Dorothy Dixers, interference run by backbenchers at Estimates, Right to Information requests denied or heavily redacted and Ministers refusing to answer questions truthfully, if at all.

Every day we see the Liberals' 'born to rule' arrogance paraded in the place of democracy. Today, for example, they clocked up their 249th self-congratulatory Dorothy Dix 'question' in Question Time.

After 18 months in government, the Liberals need to start to answer genuine questions and treat Tasmanians with respect.

We can only hope that this is a catalytic moment for Minister Groom and the Liberals.
