Rosalie Woodruff MP | Greens Energy spokesperson
The Minister for Energy needs to step in and reassure the community that cloud seeding activities in Tasmania are being conducted safely, as well as efficiently. The only way to do that is an independent investigation into the cloud seeding activities in early June.
Minister Groom needs to take the responsible course of action as Minister and initiate an independent investigation. The investigation should look at the specific circumstances around the early June operation, as well Hydro Tasmania’s cloud seeding generally.
Hydro Tasmania’s cloud seeding operation was conducted just before the flooding that resulted in extensive property damage and loss of life.
Tasmanians have been loud and clear. They're not happy with Hydro Tasmania conducting its own investigation into the flood events of June 5.
Mayors, Upper House Members and the opposition parties are echoing the concerns of their constituents. They speak for their community who want confidence restored, and Minister Groom needs to listen.
