The Liberals' rampant anti-environmentalism and internal policy conflict highlights just how dangerously inept they are on threatened species and forestry issues.

They cannot expect Tasmanians to believe they want to protect the endangered Giant Freshwater Lobster habitat when the plan to open up current habitat reserves for logging.

It is time for more than lip service from the Liberals.  Minister Groom needs to rule out any logging in reserves and forests that support this iconic species.

Instead of threatening to log high conservation value forests and desperately trying to sell publicly subsidised wood nobody wants, to the lowest bidder, the Liberals need to comply with the recovery plan developed under national environmental law, which they have signed.

Minister Groom needs to rein in the feral Minister for Resources and move to ensure the survival of this uniquely Tasmanian species by ruling out logging in its habitat.
