The government's helping hand in turning the state reserve at Arm End at South Arm over to developers of a private golf course has been revealed this morning.
Under questioning, the parliament discovered that the Minister for Environment's brother is the chair of the golf course proponent.
In an extraordinary outburst Minister Groom declared that his brother was "entitled to do whatever he wants to do".
Minister Groom's dummy-spit about the right for developers, in this case his own family, to exploit our public areas is revealing. It demonstrates that the Liberals don't have any boundaries when it comes to selling off public assets.
Our parks and reserves belong to the people of Tasmania. The South Arm community are very concerned that Arm End is being gifted to the best connected bidder.
The Greens will be following this matter with great interest.
