Within 24 hours of the Gutwein Government abusing the law to target peaceful protesters in the Tarkine, pro-logging thugs violently attacked those same peaceful protesters overnight.

The Premier, Minister for Resources, Guy Barnett, and Attorney General, Elise Archer are culpable in this escalation of violence.

Their dog whistling and demonisation of Tasmanians defending ancient forests has given license to thuggery.

It is only by chance that nobody was hurt when a car with three people inside it was repeatedly rammed by dangerous, violent idiots in the Tarkine.

Tasmania Police must investigate and lay charges against those responsible.

The Liberals can wear this terrible turn of events. Their escalation of forest logging and damaging attachment to the politics of division, with a draconian twist, has consequences.

To prevent further escalation of violence in the forests, Premier Gutwein must condemn those responsible, today.
