The Forests of Lapoinya Action Group met with the Resources Minister, Paul Harriss to plead with him to save their beloved forest and have been shut down.

Minister Harriss told the concerned residents that Forestry Tasmania needed the coupe to fill the wood supply allocation, and he won't reverse the decision to log at Lapoinya.

Accounting has shown that Lapoinya will return no profit to the government, and it fails to pass the common sense test.

There's a healthy Devil population and other endangered flora and fauna in Lapoinya, as well as a community whose lives have been shaped by the natural beauty of this forest.

FLAG have even offered to buy the coupe, but had that plan rejected. This community have been desperately fighting to save their forest from logging and they're devastated by this reckless decision by the Minister.

Despite the fact that the Liberal government is deaf to the community, we will keep working with residents to help them protect Lapoinya.
