With the fibre optic cable on Basslink now out of service, iiNet and Westnet customers no longer have full service, and Tasmanians are understandably upset.
Those who use NBN Enhanced Fibre phone, they will longer have service, for the duration of the repair.
Nobody has been able to ascertain, the cause of the Basslink fault, its specific location or how long it will be out, and so the duration of the internet service issues are also unknown.
This is leaving Tasmanians with those contracts unable to access full services and paying for a service which is unobtainable.
This is not what Minister Ferguson and his colleagues promised when they assured us our connections might just be a little bit slower.
This affects hundreds of Tasmanians and the government needs to take some responsibility for the problem instead of telling people to contact their service provider.
