Cassy O’Connor MP | Greens Leader
Last week, Labor voted against the Greens’ motion condemning the Liberals for pushing the $350M plus mega-stadium, and asking them to lobby the Albanese Government not to fund it. Today, yet another sign they’re about to backflip.
After Federal Labor Treasurer Jim Chalmers signalled he’s open to funding the massive mega-stadium, today Labor are proposing a referendum on the Liberals’ plan. So much for opposing it.
Labor are crab-walking away from their opposition to the unnecessary, unpopular mega-stadium. It’s pokies all over again with Rebecca White’s so-called Opposition.
Under administration from Federal Labor, Tasmanian Labor MPs are now running cover for them - at a potential cost of over $350M out of the State Budget, and at the expense of better housing and health systems.
So much for health and housing first. Rebecca White and her colleagues should apologise to the constituents they wheeled out to do media, criticising the Liberals for focussing on a stadium instead of meeting those people’s basic needs.
It seems neither the Liberals nor Labor can get the basics right.
