Rosalie Woodruff MP | Greens' Environment spokesperson
Labor have finally made their position clear on East Coast salmon industry expansion. They will join the Liberals in backing industry's short-term gains over the marine environment and long-term jobs.
After avoiding the media for three days, Labor have backed the decision to farm salmon in Okehampton Bay.
The Greens will support the East Coast community. We stand with other fishing industries, tourism operators, recreational fishers and divers - as well as East Coast residents and ratepayers - in opposition to salmon farming at Okehampton Bay.
Labor and the Liberals are united, putting short-term business interests above East Coast residents, and their strong opposition to Tassal's development.
The East Coast community want to keep a healthy and beautiful marine environment, and jobs that will be there for the long-term.
Only the Greens will stand up for the community, the area's natural values, and sustainable jobs on the East Coast.
