Cassy O'Connor MP | Greens Leader
Tasmanian Liberal party members clearly don't believe in representative democracy.
Their conference vote to abolish Hare-Clark is a transparent and shameless attempt to cling on to power by undermining one of the fairest electoral systems in the world.
This is the political establishment trying to tighten its grip on power, shut people out and silence dissenting voices.
They tried it, along with Labor, back in 1998 when they cut the numbers in the House of Assembly in an attempt to kill off the Greens.
This attempt to undermine democracy and good governance is as transparent as the last one.
The Premier needs to show some backbone and instead of leaving the question hanging, as he has, rule out abolishing Hare-Clark.
To do any less will show Mr Hodgman is afraid of democracy.
