In their ideologically-driven rush to log the State’s native forests, the Liberals are destroying the habitat of the endangered Swift parrot. They’ve authorised logging of critical parrot habitat in Southern Tasmania, without a thought for the endangered bird.
There are only 2,000 swifties left in the wild, and the Liberals have made a deliberate decision to log these forests. We must stop the logging of Swift parrot habitat - full stop - if they are to survive.
Swift parrot habitat is being destroyed at Minister Barnett and Minister Archer’s behest, and it’s diminishing hopes for this precious bird’s survival.
The Liberals have a blatant disregard for the environment. Their politically-driven, rampant logging plan is placing species like the Swift parrot on the chopping block.
With every stick of threated species habitat logged, the more remote the hope of ever obtaining Forest Stewardship Council certification gets. There is nothing sustainable about the Liberals’ native forest logging plan.
Our forests must be managed sensibly for the threatened species they are home to, and for future generations of Tasmanians. The Liberals must stop their politically-driven forestry agenda, if species like the Swift parrot, and the forests they live in and depend upon, are to survive.
