Cassy O’Connor MP | Greens' Leader
In Budget Estimates today, the Energy Minister confirmed the Westpac credit card scheme the Liberals have fraudulently badged as a cost of living measure won't cost the government a cent.
After initially falsely claiming the $10 million energy efficiency 'loan scheme' was in the Budget papers, the red-faced Minister tried to claim the costs were 'administrative' costs borne by Aurora.
When we exposed that as a false claim, the Secretary of State Growth clarified that the $10 million is Westpac's money.
The Liberals are not investing a cent in the TEELS scheme, and Aurora's role has been confirmed to be minimal.
So now we know, this is a credit card scheme with participants facing exorbitant commercial credit card interest rates at the end of three years.
It's a sham of a cost of living measure.
