The Rockliff Government looks set to ram legislation through Parliament to retrospectively validate decades of unlawful logging.
Resources Minister, Guy Barnett, has written to MPs and MLCs this morning flagging an intention to move the Forest Practices Amendment (Validation) Bill 2022 as an urgent Bill when Parliament returns tomorrow.
It’s a sad start to Jeremy Rockliff’s first day in Parliament as Premier.
Despite knowing for months he is overseeing unlawful logging activities, Minister Barnett has allowed it to continue outside the law.
Let that sink in – current logging operations are illegal, but Barnett has carried on regardless.
Native forest logging is a crime against Nature, the climate, current and future generations. It’s also heavily subsidized by the taxpayer, who have been paying for industry to operate unlawfully.
We will fight this odious Bill and the unsustainable, climate-damaging native forest logging industry it enables
