Cassy O'Connor MP | Greens Leader
Premier Hodgman and the Liberal Party Room should just fess up that they want a pay rise and are trusting the Tasmanian Industrial Commission to deliver it.
Tasmanian politicians are well paid already. A significant pay rise would rightly be unacceptable to Tasmanians living on the breadline and the 840 public sector workers who have lost their jobs since the Hodgman Government came to office.
Premier Hodgman's move to refer MP remuneration to the Industrial Commission is ironic after his government sought to bypass the very same body in last year's failed pay pause negotiations.
It's fair and reasonable for the State to link MP's pay determination to public sector workers, after all we too work for the Tasmanian people.
