The long delayed release of data on housing, children and disabilities shows modest improvement in only one area of Minister Jaensch’s portfolio responsibility and even with that, it is still taking more than a year to find homes for high priority applicants.

The waiting list for housing is not falling, fewer people are being housed and less Tasmanians assisted to go in to the private rental market.

Little surprise it took the Minister so long to release the data, which by our measure is about two months late.

Tasmanians who are struggling have to hear Treasurer Gutwein laud a ‘golden age’. Meanwhile, they are reduced to begging his government for the help they need and still they are missing out.

It’s well past time the Liberals examined their priorities.  The big end of town can look after itself.  We need this government to start showing real care for communities and for Tasmanians who are struggling.
