It is difficult to imagine the level of stress, anxiety and grief on the North West Coast today.

The scale of this COVID-19 outbreak in the North West is impacting on thousands of lives.

Families who already haven’t seen parents and grandparents for weeks now face the grim prospect of transmission into aged care facilities that the people they love call home.

Families have lost loved ones, who died isolated from them, alone and undoubtedly terrified.

To prevent further transmission and save lives, stronger containment measures are being put in place in the North West.

This is going to be tough but we know it's necessary if coronavirus is to be eradicated from this island.

We trust the investigation into the North West outbreak is thorough, expeditious, and its results transparent.

It’s essential any mistakes made are not repeated in other health and community settings around the State.

This pandemic is devastating in its impact, but as a closely connected island community, we'll get through this. There are brighter days ahead.
