The Greens have welcomed the flagged Legislative Council Committee inquiry into the impacts of the government’s decision to abolish the Guaranteeing Futures program.
“This is a welcome development that will allow concerned students, parents and community leaders to vent their frustration at a government that is simply not listening, and show support for their local pathway planners,” said Greens Education spokesperson Nick McKim MP.
“Guaranteeing Futures has delivered sustained improvements in post- year 10 retention rates over the last five years, and to expect the slack created by Minister Rockliff to be picked up by already very busy teachers is just not realistic.”
