The government's review of the fees charged by the Public Trustee has no Terms of Reference, no end date, and offers no guarantee that matters will improve for some of Tasmania's most disadvantaged people, Greens Justice spokesperson Nick McKim MP said today.
"This is policy on the run by the Attorney General, in a government which has made an art form of using reviews to delay making decisions."
"In an attempt to head off reasonable criticism about the fees changed by the Public Trustee, Dr Goodwin has announced a review with no Terms of Reference, no end date, and offered no guarantees that policy will change."
"If the Attorney really cared about this issue she would be adding to the Public Trustee's Community Service Obligation funding and requiring them to reduce fees while the Review is underway," Mr McKim said.
