Rosalie Woodruff MP | Greens Member for Franklin
The resubmission of unchanged plans to privatise the Rosny Hill Recreation Area will leave many Eastern Shore residents angry. It appears as though the proponent shelved the project until the council elections were over, so ratepayers didn't get a say through their choice of councillors.
It’s cynical for private company, Hunter Developments on the one hand to commit to ‘proper and meaningful’ conversation about an unchanged development application for Rosny Hill Nature Area, while on the other leave the Clarence community off the list of people to consult with.
It's clear the community are intentionally being ignored when it comes to the Rosny Hill development.
Rosny Hill is a publicly-owned Recreation Area. The Premier - and Member for Franklin - Will Hodgman needs to step in and remind the developer that Rosny Hill is owned by all Tasmanians, and is not a developer’s to profit from.
Premier Hodgman needs to defend his electorate’s interests. The community want sensitive developments that enhance nature and streetscapes, rather than ones that diminish them.
The Clarence City Council has had an influx of new councillors. We hope those new faces put the community’s interests first, rather than support this short-term rush to privatise public land.
