The appointment of John Ramsay to head up Minister Ferguson’s expensive, six month review of the Royal Hobart Hospital redevelopment is an excellent choice and the Greens wish him and the review team every success in their work, Tasmanian Greens’ Health spokesperson, Cassy O’Connor MP, said today.
“John Ramsay is a person of great capacity and integrity, who I had the good fortune to work with in my former role as Minister for Climate Change. I am certain he is up to the task."
“On behalf of those countless Tasmanians who don’t want to see any further delay to the Royal redevelopment, the Greens are respectfully urging Mr Ramsay and his team to treat their work as a matter of urgency."
“We encourage the review team to listen to the clinicians, the nurses and the staff at the hospital. They understand better than the Minister or the Department what the Royal and its patients need. Ask staff who cook and clean in the hospital for their opinion on the redevelopment."
“Importantly, talk to the patients and hear what they have to say too."
“The Greens trust that the review team will be enabled to undertake comprehensive and speedy inquiries so this process doesn’t drag out any more than it already has,” Ms O’Connor said.
