The Hodgman Government owes Tasmanians an explanation over the refurbishment of the Bass Strait ferries and the numbers of Tasmanians who were - or were not - employed to do the work.

The Government's silence on imported worker numbers today, along with TT Line’s, means it is still unclear whether they are just embarrassed they didn't use a Tasmanian workforce or, more seriously, whether contract conditions have been breached.

The other outstanding question is whether it was the Tasmanian Liberals' '365 Day Plan' that Trimline referenced yesterday when the company cited adhering to 'deadlines' as the reason for importing a workforce and not using Tasmanian labour*.

Tasmanians deserve transparency from their government over contracts it initiates and administers.   It is unreasonable for the Liberal Government not to outline exactly how many workers have been imported and whether they reached the required 50% quota of Tasmanians employed.
