The funding insecurity around Rural Alive and Well is deeply concerning. Many rural Tasmanians have survived depression and suicide thanks to the committed staff and volunteers at RAW.
The service RAW offer to farmers and rural Tasmanians is immeasurable. The State Liberals must do everything within their power to make sure their funding is continued.
People living in rural communities have the highest rate of suicide, and the pressure placed on farmers increases exponentially in times of flood or drought.
Ministers Ferguson and Rockliff must call on their Canberra colleagues to commit to the mental health of rural Tasmania, through secure funding for RAW.
Governments of all levels have an obligation to ensure the mental health of rural Tasmanians is cared for. Rural Alive and Well is a service the State can't afford to lose.
