Cassy O’Connor MP | Greens Leader and Human Services spokesperson
Minister Petrusma dodged question after question on her government's housing giveaway plan in parliament this morning.
Instead of providing Tasmanians with the evidence base for the asset giveaway and the total value of the up to 500 properties, Ms Petrusma weakly argued that she and her government were not privatising public assets.
The Tasmanians we speak to believe if it looks and smells like a public asset giveaway, that's what it is.
Make no mistake, this is the privatisation of a public asset. It flies in the face of the Premier's comments in April last year, when he told Tasmanians he wouldn't be selling the farm.
The Liberals need to be reminded that the state's housing assets aren't theirs to giveaway, they belong to the people of Tasmania.
If we are to believe Minister Petrusma that this title transfer is merely a trial, it seems it will be the first multi-million dollar giveaway of more to come.
