Today's comments from TasWater confirm the Liberals' cynical politicking on the State's water and sewerage infrastructure.

Until last week, Peter Gutwein dismissed any issues raised over the provision of water and sewerage services as Local Government's problem.

These issues clearly weren't even raised by the Minister until the Liberals' political stunt last week.

To construct a so-called "emergency" is irresponsible.

The Greens have been questioning Mr Gutwein on the State's water and sewerage infrastructure for some time, particularly in his home town of Launceston.  He dismissed every question, and ignored any assertion it was a shared responsibility and that the State Government needs to contribute.

Last week's TasWater drama is transparently Liberal politicking in the lead up to the State Election.

Peter Gutwein is desperately seeking a fight with Councils over TasWater in the hope people won't notice he's done nothing his term as Minister to assist TasWater and its owners in providing clean, safe drinking water to Tasmanians regardless of where they live.
