In Budget Estimates today, the Premier confirmed that it was the TT Line which requested that details of its sponsorship deal with the North Melbourne Football Club be kept secret.

Despite the fact that TT Line is a wholly owned entity of the Tasmanian people it is refusing to reveal how much the sponsorship deal is costing.

The Commercial in Confidence argument put by TT Line just doesn't stack up.

Where is the competition for TT Line's business on Bass Strait?

Who else with enough disposable millions would compete to sign up North Melbourne in an exclusive deal?

The Premier couldn't answer these questions today, and couldn't justify the secrecy.

All we can be sure of is that the deal is costing more than the last one, otherwise there would be no desire for secrecy on TT Line's part.

TT Line and the Premier seem to have forgotten the GBE is owned by the people of Tasmania.
