Cassy O'Connor MP | Greens Leader
Lutruwita/Tasmania has lost one of its kindest, most engaging and feisty sons, with the death today of Peter Cundall.
Peter was loved by generations of Tasmanians. He will be very much missed.
Peter Cundall’s unbridled delight in the natural world shone throughout his long contribution to public life on ABC radio and television.
He was also an unashamed conservationist who raised his voice to protect this island’s forests, and to stop the Gunns’ Tamar Valley pulp mill.
It was Peter Cundall who told us, ‘We must never, never, never give up’ the fight.
A defining feature of this great man was his courage.
In 2009, Peter Cundall was arrested outside Parliament House for again taking a stand against the mill.
Peter was a rebel, for all the right reasons. Through his broadcasting, Peter also taught us the importance of the simple things in life - good people and time with Nature.
Vale Peter Cundall. The Greens are so thankful for your long and generous life.
