Cassy O'Connor MP | Greens' Leader
Tasmanian women and girls will welcome moves to ban from the State's roads vehicles which display offensive, sexist signage.
The most obvious example of this in recent times has been Wicked Campers' vehicles, which are often emblazoned with revolting images and words that demean women and girls.
The Greens will support this legislation, but we'll also be pointing out the lack of consistency in the Liberals' approach to discrimination.
There is still legislation before the Upper House that would weaken the State's Anti-Discrimination laws, and make it easier for people to say sexist, racist and homophobic things.
The Liberals are apparently still standing by these divisive and unnecessary changes which have been condemned by the former Anti-Discrimination Commissioner, legal experts and advocates for marginalised groups.
To be consistent with their excellent initiative to bring Wicked Campers into the 21st century, the Liberals should walk away from their nasty changes to the Anti-Discrimination Act.
