Dr WOODRUFF - Minister, how many discrimination complaints have been lodged with Equal Opportunity Tasmania against the DoE or its teachers in the past 12 months, if any? If there were any, I was also hoping to find out whether they were resolved at mediation, or if they are ongoing or referred to the tribunal, et cetera.

Ms COURTNEY - The advice I have before me, with respect to the complaints made against the department pursuant to the Anti-Discrimination Act, to 31 March 2021 there were 10 active complaints carried over, and only four new complaints received, with that being significantly lower than the nine received in the previous year. Nine complaints were resolved during the year, leaving five active complaints as at that time. Of the nine complaints resolved, six settled following conciliation; one was resolved following judicial review; one was withdrawn; and one was not investigated further after initial information provided by the department.
