That the House:—
(1) Notes the Council of Australian Government's meeting held in Canberra on 1 April 2016 - April Fool's Day.
(2) Understands the ludicrous proposal of the Commonwealth Government that States be responsible for their own income tax, a position that would hurt Tasmania more than any other State.
(3) Recognises that after the Commonwealth Liberal Government slashed $1.8 billion from our health budget, they intend to return a mere $54million, leaving a massive black hole in the already underfunded Health budget.
(4) Further notes:—
(a) Premier Hodgman's statements before he headed off to COAG, that he would stand up for the State and would not accept any changes that would leave Tasmania worse off; and
(b) that Premier Hodgman returned to Tasmania with a $1.8 billion health funding gap and serious uncertainty about Gonski funding.
(5) Understands that the Premier let the State down at COAG, leaving Tasmania as COAG's biggest April Fool.
