Andrea Dawkins MP On tomorrow to move that the house –

1.     Recognise the Junction Arts Festival, which was held in Launceston over five days last week.

2.     Notes that –

a)     Junction showcases many local and interstate artists and musicians, and presents a great range of unique, interesting and quirky offerings for a wide variety of interests.

b)    This year’s festival was the biggest yet, with close to 9000 people attending.

c)     Junction utilises and highlights Launceston’s wonderful Princes Square, and other unusual and interesting spaces around the city.

d)    Junction has become a significant arts event and a major economic driver for Northern Tasmania.

3.     Congratulates Greg Clarke, Steve Henty, Frith Loone, Brigitte Trobianni and the myriad of supporting characters including staff, volunteers, and all the artists involved for their amazing efforts to produce a hugely successful event.

4.     Calls on the government to ensure ongoing funding for the Junction Arts Festival so it can grow and flourish, and contribute to the renewed sense of vibrancy that Launceston is experiencing.
