That the House:—
(a) the claim of the third Resource Minister in two years, Hon Guy Barnett MP, that “Tasmania's forest industry is responding to the pro-jobs, pro-growth policies of the Hodgman Liberal Government”;
(b) the latest NAB State Update for Tasmania pointed to continued structural decline in the forestry sector;
(c) the Government’s move towards native forest biomass makes no environmental or economic sense, and is entirely unsustainable;
(d) the only forestry sectors to achieve meaningful, sustainable profits are the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified plantations;
(e) that Forestry Tasmania has failed to make meaningful progress towards FSC certification in large part due to the Liberals' deceptive and delusional forestry policy; and
(f) the Liberal Government’s forestry policies are incompatible with FSC requirements and certification.
(2) Commits to halt native forest logging and move towards sustainable, FSC certified plantation forestry
